Thanks for joining us on our Viking Sky World Cruise!
Well, after many months of planning and hoping, it took only 45 minutes from leaving our home to be aboard the magnificent Viking Sky cruise ship. Check-in was quick and while our bags took some time to get to our room, we set up our cabin (with our very own private amazon collection of stuff) for the next 138 days and we sailed away from Fort Lauderdale just after sunset.
Day 2 was a needed sea day to get acquainted with the surrounds while Day 3 we docked at Cozumel, Mexico where our excursion went to San Gervasio, an ancient Mayan village and temple.
Day 4 and Day 5 was two sea days heading to Cartagena Columbia in which we took a cooking class and did some wine tasting.
Day 6 was Cartegena, Columbia which we went to a village of Turbaco and toured a Botanical Garden.
Day 7 we sailed over to Colon Panama and took a tour of the world renowned Panama Canal and had a tour of the Mira Flores Locks very up close
Day 8 we had a scenic cruise through the Panama Canal and witnessed the operation of the locks as it raised our ship some 85 feet and lowered it back down and at the conclusion, we were sailing in the Pacific Ocean.
Lectures have been both stimulating and informative. Many cruisers are only on the leg from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles and only 300 are on for the world cruise on this leg. The rest of the World cruisers join us in Los Angeles on January 5th.
