Only 30 Days to Go!<\/strong><\/p>

We\u2019re getting excited as the countdown begins\u2014just 30 days left! Many friends have asked what it takes to plan a six-month journey away from home. While we\u2019ve never done it before, the internet has been an incredible resource. We’ve read blogs, posts, and discussions from others who\u2019ve undertaken similar trips, and their suggestions have been invaluable. So, a big thank you to all the bloggers, Facebookers, and discussion board contributors out there. While you may not realize the impact you\u2019ve had, we truly appreciate the time you\u2019ve taken to share ideas, guidance, and lessons learned.<\/p>

Here\u2019s where we stand, 30 days out:<\/p>

  • Cruise Reservations<\/strong>: All cruise-related bookings are complete and paid for.<\/p><\/li>

  • Vaccinations<\/strong>: We\u2019ve taken care of all necessary vaccinations, including Yellow Fever, Tetanus, Typhoid, Malaria (pills), COVID booster, RSV, Pneumonia, and the seasonal flu shot.<\/p><\/li>

  • Packing<\/strong>: Packing has officially begun! We\u2019ve started laying out clothes, electronics, and pharmaceutical supplies. The next big task will be finalizing everything after the first week of December.<\/p><\/li>

  • Living Arrangements<\/strong>: Our son and his girlfriend are moving into our house for the next six months. We\u2019ve been preparing their room and clearing space for their furniture, which is being moved in from their apartment. While they work full-time, we\u2019ve arranged for someone to check on the house, clean, and water the plants as needed.<\/p><\/li>

  • Bills & Insurance<\/strong>: We\u2019ve set up electronic bill payments and confirmed everything will be covered while we\u2019re away. Our health insurance has also been extended for the duration of the trip.<\/p><\/li>

  • Clothes & Packing<\/strong>: We\u2019ve made a donation of clothes we no longer need and are now starting to organize what we\u2019ll be taking. We\u2019re planning for 14 days\u2019 worth of clothes, plus jackets and items for colder climates. The packing process will be a challenge, but we\u2019ll tackle it after the first week of December when we have a better idea of space.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>
